Kjaer Weis Experience

Early this month I stopped by the Kjaer Wei counter at Fashion Island, Newport beach inside of Neiman Marcus out of sheer curiosity for the brand. I met Meghan there, and unlike every other brand rep inside the department store, she was so warm and friendly (and not to mention natural-looking!), not trying to push me to buy anything. She introduced me to the brand and invited me to test out the products. I loved how buildable and skin-like all of the products looked on my skin, so she invited me for a one-on-one with Kristen (the founder) herself! You better believe I said yes and set up an appointment.

Friday I was running errands when it turns out that I had placed the Kjaer Weis appointment on Google Calendar accidentally on Saturday instead of Friday. Turns out that they had extra spots for me, so I was able to still make it to meet Kirsten in person. Still in my T shirt in shorts, in a hot mess, I scrambled to Fashion Island and was so glad I did. Kirsten was so cool and casual I didn’t feel intimidated as expected. All her products are natural, skin-like, sustainably packaged and so luxurious. Here are the products she used on me:

  • Foundation: Shade: Illusion

  • Blush: Cream Blush in Desired Glow

  • Lips: Lip gloss in Tenderness and Treasure

  • Eyes: Cream Eyeshadow in Alluring

  • Powder eyeshadow in Magnetic & Grace

  • Face: KJ powder

I loved the finish of the makeup, and I really felt like Kristen made me feeling so glam but at the same time so natural! I’m so surprised that such an emollient and natural-looking foundation could give so much coverage for my acne scars, no concealer needed! The only negative thing I have to say was that the eyeshadow creased right away since there was no primer (and I have very oily eyelids), and the cream shadow was placed on top of powder. Before base makeup, I also declined the face oil since it didn’t work out for me last time since everything placed on top slipped around and I just felt oily for the rest of the day. Using oil as a primer is a no-go for me, but regular moisturizer will do just fine to create a hydrated base!

You can tell from the performance and packaging of the product that Kirsten has put a lot of thought into every little detail, from start to finish and I love that. I’m so grateful I got to meet her in person and get my makeup done by her. (Btw all these pictures are unedited and besides the pictures inside of the department store, are taken with natural lighting)
