HelloAva: If I were to summarize this, HelloAva is an online skincare service (no subscription needed) using blend of AI and personalization to curate products according to your skin's needs and wants! I'm sure we all feel overwhelmed with the supersaturated skincare market, and it's just a lot of work to even know where to start to find products that will work for our skin. What I like is that you don't have to commit to buying, recommendations can also be modified with consultation with your skin advisor, and that you don't have to buy a whole regimen! Like me, you can just choose one product and not overspend.
There's three steps for using this service:
Completing an online questionnaire. This is the AI part of the service. This questionnaire is designed to know things like ingredients you don't want, ingredient preferences, pollution exposure, problem areas, skin concerns, etc. Even if you don't even know what your skin type or skin concerns are, questions like "several hours after applying moisturizer my face feels...x/y/z" will help you get to know your skin more.
Talk to Skincare Consultant via text: There is a $10 fee here, but that goes towards your first purchase so to me, it's basically free. Here you can express concerns and modify recommendations before you decide what to/not to purchase.
Buy: Buy the product(s) that you want, and after you finish it up, you can refill it for 10% off. Every recommendation will give an in-depth description, list of ingredients, and tell you why it might be a good match for you.
Overall this service is easy to use, and the consultant was patient because I was picky and wanted modifications. I do wish that the consultant was more prompt over text, but overall, the process was easy. Before walking into a Sephora and feeling overwhelmed or watching countless Youtube videos on product reviews, this would be a great place to start to get to know your skin better and to curate for yourself skincare products! 6
